What you’ll be doing: This role is required by retail outlets such as department stores and boutiques. Typical day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Meeting customers for appointments, understanding their likes, dislikes and budget
  • Selecting products or services in line with their taste and demands
  • Ensuring unsold goods are returned, and complying with store security procedures
  • Meeting individual and team sales targets, and record sales as necessary

Career progression: Experience could lead to a managerial or stylist position; however, you may also decide to start your own business or work freelance for a number of shops.
